The Tiber Overland Tour via Kathmandu is a classic overland tours connecting the two ancient trade capitals of Lhasa and Kathmandu. Tibet, used to be the mysterious, legendary and unknown Roof of the World, hidden and almost unreachable behind the highest mountains in the world can be easily reached today from Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province to Lhasa. This is the safest way for visitors to travel to Tibet.

Day 1 :

Arrive in Kathmandu

Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, you will be met by our staff and you will be transferred to Hotel. After short rest, start our Tibet Tour Adventure in Kathmandu by visiting the UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Swayambhunath Temple, said to be 2500 years stupa on a hillock, which offers a breath-taking view of Kathmandu City and the sunset view. This Stupa is the oldest of its kind in Nepal. Next, we will visit historic Kathmandu Durbar Square (Hanuman Dhoka) if you are lucky, you will be able to have a glance of the famous living Goddess of Nepal-Kumari. Evening free to stroll along the busy street of Kathmandu city center. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 02 :

Kathmandu (1300m) (Breakfast)

It's free and easy day to prepare for your trip, buy some necessary trek equipment. Acclimatize in Kathmandu before going to Tibet. And side excursion around Thamel Area. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 03 :

Kathmandu to Nyalam (3,750m/12,300ft)-162Kms (Breakfast)

We start our tour with an early morning drive to Kodari, the Nepali border post. After completing immigration and custom formalities drive up hill to Zhangmu (2,300m/75,44ft). This is Tibetan border town. After the formalities we continue our journey through a beautiful gorge to Nyalam crossing the Himalayan range. The Tibetan Guide will meet the Group on arrival at the check post. On the way you will see fantastic view of deep valley with some overflowing waterfalls. Overnight at Guest house

Day 04 :

Nyalam to Lhatse (4,350m/14,270ft)-220Kms(Breakfast)

After breakfast drive to Xegar crossing two spectacular passes approx 7 hours to reach Lhatse crossing through the Nyalam pass (3,800m/12,464ft) and Lalung La pass (5,082m/16,670ft). This day offers fantastic view of the high mountains including, Mount Everest (8,848m/29,021ft) JugalHimal, Mt. Makalu (8464m) etc. Overnight at Guest house

Day 05 :

Lhatse to Shigatse (3,900m/12,790ft)-244Kms(Breakfast)

Today we visit the place of famous Tashilunpo Monastery and seat of Panchen Lama until his death in 1989 with its huge Thangka wall which is clearly visible from the north side of the road. We drive approx 6 hours to reach Shigatse. Overnight at hotel

Day 06:Shigatse to Gyantse (3,950m/12,955)-90kms(Breakfast)
Today we visit the Tashilunpo Monastery and the open market of Xigaste in the morning time. After getting lunch we start our short drive to Gyantse where you visit the Khumbum Stupa and Phalkot Monastery and overnight. Overnight at hotel

Day 06 :

Gyantse to Lhasa (3,650m/11,970)-259kms(Breakfast)

Today we reach Lhasa after long drive approx 8 hours on the way crossing the Karo La (5010m/16432ft) and Kamba La (4794m/15724ft) pass and Lake YamdrokTso. You will cross the YarlungTsangpo (Brahamaputra) river and see the distant views of the Potala Palace. Overnight at hotel

Day 07 :

Lhasa Sightseeing Tour(Breakfast)

These two days you will be engaged with sightseeing and excursion of the Potala Palace (A great museum with its proportions and priceless treasures), Jokhang Temple (the holiest of Tibetan shrines, houses two images of the Buddha brought as dowry by SongtsenGampo’s Nepali and Chinese queens) along the bustling street of Barkhor Market. In Lhasa you will also visit NorbuLingka (the summer palace of the Dalai Lamas), Drepung and Sera Monasteries. Overnight at hotel
