The Gosainkunda Trek name is derived from an alpine freshwater Lake Gosainkunda. Located at 4,380m above sea level, Gosaikunda is not only a Ramsar site (since 2007), meaning that it is a wetland of international importance, it is also a holy site for both Buddhists and Hindus.
This 8 days trek starts from Dhunche after 6-hrs jeep drive from Kathmandu. The route of this trek is easy/moderate level and anyone can do this trek if one is physically fit and prepared. Except, June 15th to Sept 15th, Gosaikunda trekking is recommended for all year round. The best season for gosaikunda trek is from October to early December and March to May. Gosaikunda Lake is believed as holy lake of this area, there is a pilgrimage festival held every year in full moon day of July/August. Mountain views are spectacular and also trekking areas are not very crowd like Everest and Annapurna.
Besides that, you will have the best perspective of Langtang Lirung (7246m), Gangchhenpo (6388m), Dokpu (5930m), Naya Kangri (5846m), Yala Peak (5500m) and numerous others snow-topped mountains, tough rocks, verdant grounds, forested green valleys and just as heavenly mountain lakes.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuwan International Airport, we will receive you with private vehicle and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu with breakfast plan. Our representative will give you briefing about your trip, and take on a guided tour of World Heritage Sites including Swayambhutanth Temple and Kathmandu Durbar Square.
After breakfast, we drive on a northern highway that twists and climbs over mountain ridges to the Trishuil valley. The journey will take 6-7 hours through picturesque landscapes, mountain scenery and local villages. On the way we have magnificent views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Mt Kerung of Tibet. Overnight relax at a local teahouse in Dhunche.
Today we walk around 5-6 hours through dense forest of pine and rhododendron to reach Sing Gompa (Chandan Bari) which is our overnight spot. The trail from here is mostly uphill with typically Himalayan terrain and last few hours remaining forested with open areas giving excellent views when looking back the way we have come. After arrival in hotel refreshed and enjoy visiting cheese factory as well as terrain forested landscape.
Today we walk around 2-3 hours uphill to Lauri Binayak. We have to walk slowly, as we will need to acclimatize as we walk due to high altitude. We will arrive Lauri Binayak for lunch. After lunch enjoy great view of the mountain and valley. Rest and overnight at lodge.
Today we follow a wonderful trail to reach at holy Gosainkunda Lake. This area is the homeland of the Tamangs and Sherpas and even a short time spent here provides an insight into their rural mountain lifestyles and the cultural contrasts between Hindu and Buddhist villages. After lunch, we'll simply relax or take a stroll around the lake and surrounding area.
After morning stroll and sightseeing of the Lake, we trek downhill the same route to Sing Gompa. After lunch at Sing Gompa we continue our trek downhill through the pine and rhododendron forest and some bamboo bushes. When we reach at stream then cross the river and walk to downstream and an hour gently uphill through the farm field and reach Dhunche for the overnight stay.
Today, we drive back to Kathmandu via same way road to Kathmandu. Arrival, guide will transfer you to the hotel and rest of the time simply relax at the hotel or explore the local area and overnight at hotel.
After leisurely breakfast at hotel, our representative will transfer you to Kathmandu Airport 3 hrs before your schedule flight.
