Overview

The Gokyo Cho-La Pass Trek with Everest Base Camp (EBC) is an adventurous trek in the Everest region that includes an excursion around Gokyo valley and the crossing of adventurous Cho La Pass at 5,420 meters, combined with memorable hikes up to best viewpoints of Everest – Gokyo Ri, at 5,340 meters, and Kala Patthar, at 5,545 meters.

You will also get an opportunity to explore around the Everest Base Camp, which provides a wonderful experience inside the Sagarmatha National Park. Gokyo Valley comprises of series of crystal-clear glacial lakes, which draws the attention of trekkers from all around the globe. Moreover, the stunning views of the world’s highest mountains, including Mt. Everest (8,848m), Mt. Lhotse (8,515m), Mt. Makalu (8,481m), and Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m) provides an unforgettable experience for keen and interested trekkers.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m) (Welcome dinner)

Arrive Kathmandu, upon arrival in Kathmandu airport you will meet our staff and transfer to Hotel. After short rest, we will visit the Swayambhunath Temple, said to be 2500 years Stupa on a hillock, which offers a breath-taking view of Kathmandu City and the Sunset view. This Stupa is the oldest of its kind in Nepal, listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Monument List. Next; we will visit historic Kathmandu Durbar Square (Hanuman Dhoka) if you are lucky, you will be able to have a glance of the famous living Goddess Kumari followed by Nepalese traditional cultural show with dinner at restaurant. After dinner you will be able to prepare for your trekking, buy necessary stuff etc. Stroll along the busy street of Kathmandu city center. Overnight Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu – Lukla (flight) - Phakding (2,660m) (B,L,D)

In the morning, we take a spectacular 40-min. flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, perched at 9400ft (2865m) in the Khumbu region of Eastern Nepal. The flight is bound to be one of the most exhilarating you will ever take. Much of it is only a few thousand feet above ground and the views of the terraced landscape, river valleys below, as well as the closeness of some of the world’s highest mountains make it a truly memorable experience. In Lukla, the porters load up and we take a slow walk to Phakding (8700ft, 2650m), an easy afternoon’s scenic trek. Overnight at local guest house.

Day 03: Phakding - Namache Bazar (3,440m) (B,L,D)

After breakfast, we begin our trek following the Dudh Koshi River and reaches Zamphuti. From here you can see excellent views of Thamserku peak. Then you ascend to Chomoa, the site of an agricultural project, an interesting place to have a look around and gain an insight into the farming way of life of these people. From Chomoa, we continue our walk uphill and enter the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park (1148sq km, established in 1976) at Monjo (2840m.). We continue our walking up hill with mountain views and finally reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Day 04: Rest & Acclimatization in Namche (3,440m) (B,L,D)

Today we take rest for the proper acclimatization with some excursion. We can hike to the Everest View Hotel, the ideal place to overview some of the outstanding mountains such as Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lhotse etc. You can walk around the Khumjung valley, Hillary School and Khunde Hospital and then return back to Namche. In Namche Bazaar you can spend some time interacting with the fun-loving Sherpa and Tibetan people.

Day 05: Namche - Phortse (3680m) (B,L,D)

First part of the trail slightly goes uphill from Namche Bazaar and turn to Phortse Thanga via Khumjung, Dudhkoshi Valley. The trail is zigzag and alone the trail you will see mountain goats, Thar and Himalayan birds. Overnight at tea house.

Day 06: Phortse Thangna - Mochermo (4,470m) (B,L,D)

Today, we continue upward with the trail passing through the middle of forests, and en-route it offers the magnificent vista of Cho Oyu (8201m) other snowy peak of Khumbu Himalaya. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 07: Mochermo to Gokyo Lake via Ngozumpa glacier. (B,L,D)

The whole trail is zigzag. The mountain vista seen from the Gokyo region is captivating. Further two hours climb to Gokyo-Ri (5357m); a small peak above the lake, offers the spectacular panorama of Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu and Cholatse. Overnight at Gokyo.

Day 08: Explore the Gokyo Lake. (B,L,D)

We will trek to Gokyo Peak with early in the morning start. The summit offers the extravagant vista of Cho You, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu. While climbing down you can enjoy the view of Gokyo Lake and if the weather condition and wind situation permits, we'll also explore around the Gokyo Lake. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 09: Gokyo - Dzongla (5,330m) (B,L,D)

We walk downhill to reach Thangna village and have tea or coffee. The trail from here goes directly up to Cho La Pass at (5414m). Cross Cho La and walk down hill to Dzongla village. Today's trek could be more challenging and difficult, as we'll be trekking for 6-7hrs. the Overnight at teahouse.

Day 10: Dzongla - Lobuche (4,990m).(B,L,D)

After morning breakfast, you will start your trek to Lobuche through the main Everest route as you pass through Pheriche and Tengboche, where you will find the largest monastery in the area. On the way you can witness Dzongla Lake, Ama Dablam and Thamserku. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 11: Lobuche - Gorakshep (5,180m) (B,L,D)

Following the rocky moraine path and watching icy glacial pond and icebergs below the Khumbu glacier a short downhill walk after the last rocky moraine dunes bring us to Gorakshep. Gorakshep is located below Kala Patthar (5,545m) and Mt Pumori. If you reach on time, you hike up to Everest Base Camp, and descend back to Gorakshep.

Day 12: Gorakshep - Pheruche (4,250m) (B,L,D)

Early morning, hike up to Kala Patthar and enjoy the spectacular view of sun rise. From Kala Patthar one can see Mt Everest, Mt Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbtse, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku along with many other. Climb downhill have lunch and trek to Pheruche. Pheruche is a small town where all the facilities of communication are available. Here we can find Himalayan Rescue Association Aid. Overnight at guest house.

Day 13: Pheruche - Tengboche (3,890m) (B,L,D)

Another small side trip off the main route takes you across more suspension bridges to the villages of Dingboche and Tyangboche, before following the trail to Tengboche. Overnight at Tea house.

Day 14: Tengboche - Namche Bazaar (3,535m) (B,L,D)

First part of the trail passes through rhododendron forest and pine forest to Fungethaga. The trail slightly goes uphill to Namche via Trashinga and Sanasa village. Great view of the Khumbu Himalaya from village of Sanasa. We arrive back in Namche Bazaar and overnight stay.

Day 15: Namche - Lukla (2,850m) (B,L,D)

After breakfast, we continue our return journey. The trail steeply goes down through rhododendron and pine forest to Jorsale it will take about two hour, and another 5 hour walk to Lukla via Monju, banker, Phakding, Ghats khola, Chaurikharka, Chheplung. Overnight at Guest house.

Day 16: Lukla –Kathmandu (By Air) Breakfast

After breakfast, we take a morning flight back to Kathmandu. Check into hotel, free and easy time, leisure for own activities.

Day 17 Kathmandu Free and easy day (Breakfast)

Today is another free and easy day for relaxation, shopping and other activities of your own choice.
