Mardi Himal Trek is a newly opened route along the world famous Annapurna trekking region. The Mardi Himal trek is short and easy to moderate grade trek that takes us through largely unexplored and off-the-beaten trails. Thus, this trek attracts fewer visitors than more established trails. This week-long trek has all the plus points of other Annapurna treks combined with a bit more wilderness and solitude. For example, on offer are the most spectacular views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre and Hiunchuli.
Mardi Himal Trek blesses the trekkers with an overwhelming adventure. You will love the enticing views of the snow-capped peaks in the Annapurna Region. Walking across the chain of green hills, you will have the most beautiful memories.
The trail goes along small winding paths, through magical rhododendron forests, and several Himalayan hamlets. When you climb out of the forest at an elevation of around 3,300m, the landscape changes quite abruptly. It turns into a rugged high mountain landscape, with amazing views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchre, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.
From High Camp (3580m) you can climb up to Mardi Himal Base Camp in about 4-5 hours, which offers spectacular close up views of the entire Annapurna Range. This is a lovely trek for those with less time and who prefer to be on more off-the-beaten-track. Like most of the Annapurna treks except Annapurna Circuit, Mardi Himal Trek also starts and ends in Pokhara.
Assemble at Changi Airport for our flight by Thai Airways. Upon arrival at Kathmandu Airport, meet & greet by Brothers Team and transfer to hotel. After a short rest, proceed to visit world heritage sites Swayambhunath temple which is part of our Mardi Himal Trek adventure. Dinner & overnight at Hotel.
After breakfast, we take a scenic drive to Pokhara passing through beautiful Nepal countryside.Upon arrival in Pokhara, check in to the hotel, freshen up then proceed for 1hr boating at Fewa Lake, followed by sight seeing. Dinner & overnight at Hotel in Pokhara.
After breakfast, scenic drive to Phedi (30min) and then begin our Mardi Himal trek with a steep climb through the jungle, passing local villages until we reach Dhampus, our lunch stop. If the weather is clear, we will be able to see magnificent views of the Annapurna Mountain Range. Dhampus is a Gurung village; you will be able to see traditional Nepali houses and surrounding farmland. A gentle incline after lunch brings us to Pothana where we will camp or stay at lodge for the night.
After breakfast, we will begin our journey to Forest Camp, a steep uphill climb for most of the day through thick jungle with beautiful views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. We may catch glimpses of some of the local wildlife; deer, monkeys and many species of birds all live in this dense jungle. Overnight at Lodge or Camp.
Breakfast at Camp site, start our trek steep climb through the rhododendron and juniper forest. As you reach the top, you will be rewarded with the most breathtaking views of Machhapuchhre (fishtail mountain), the Annapurna Range, the valley of Annaurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal. Camp for the night.
An early wake up call today so you can appreciate the most spectacular sunrise views of the mighty Himalayas. After breakfast, we climb to Mardi Himal Base Camp, which stands at 5300 meters. A challenging day walking along narrow, rocky trails, but all will be worthwhile for the awesome views of this majestic mountain environment. Mardi Himal is a sacred mountain for both Hindus and Buddhists and nobody to date has managed to reach the summit. Today, we should be able to see Nepal’s national bird: the lophophorus, flying above our heads. Camp for the night.
After breakfast, we will descent to low camp following the same trail we went up. We then leave the trail and trek into the forest, heading to the Mardi Khola River. We descend further to Siding village and set up camp for the night.
After breakfast, start our trek gradually down between the pastures and through Tamang and Gurung villages. An easy hike today will take us to meet our transport in Lumre village, from here we will drive back to Pokhara. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel for dinner & overnight. Afternoon is free and easy time for your own leisurely activities.
After breakfast at hotel, drive back to Kathmandu via the same route. Or take a short domestic flight (additional USD120 per pax). Upon arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel and overnight in Kathmandu.
After leisurely breakfast at hotel, our representative will transfer you to Kathmandu Airport, 3-hrs before your scheduled flight to fly back home with happy memories of Mardi Himal Trek.
